Joaquin is enjoying Mardi Gras with his family, but he gets lost in the crowd. His parents and siblings search everywhere for him, and inadvertently they take other children who, like Joaquin, are disguised as harlequins. The confusion is solved in the end and the involved families continue enjoying the carnival together. Contains an informative section on Mardi Gras.
Authors' Note : Just as this book was to be sent to the printer on August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated many towns and cities of the Gulf of Mexico, including New Orleans. Our hearts, which had celebrated the joy and cultural riches of New Orleans in these pages, were filled with deep sorrow. We wish to dedicate this book to all the boys and girls who suffered and are still suffering in the aftermath of this tragedy, and to their families, who will always carry their beautiful city's vibrant spirit wherever they are. We hope the smiles, art, and music New Orleans has so generously given the world will soon return. Jazz will be forever more forlorn, and forever more true.
Santillana : Disguised as a harlequin, Joaquín enjoys the Mardi Gras celebration with his family, but he gets lost in the crowd. His family searches everywhere for him, and they find one harlequin, and another, and yet another, but none are Joaquín. But there is one sure way of telling which one is Joaquín. Find out how.
