The books in this collection were among the first books I published in the United States as individual trade books.  It has been great fun to see them reprinted over and over, and to ascertain that children continue to enjoy them as much as when they were first published.  The outstanding illustrations by Viví Escrivá have contributed immensely to their appeal.  I particularly rejoice in the fact that they have been published as big books –the size not only enhances the beauty of the art, but it especially allows teachers to duplicate to a certain extent the powerful experience of being read aloud.  The books have been complemented with cassettes, giving the children an additional experience of enjoying these texts in a musical format through the genius of Suni Paz and her delightful voice.  -  Alma Flor Ada
